Kristin Kreuk's parents are Peter Kreuk (of Dutch descent) and Deanna Che (of Chinese descent). In high school she practiced gymnastics but she had to quit in the eleventh grade because of scoliosis. After she graduated from Eric Hamber Secondary School in Vancouver she planed to study psychology, environmental science, or forensic science at Simon Fraser University but she renounced when a cast director asked her to play in the CBC TV series "Edgemont".
